About the Assessment:
Who is Cogford assessment for?
Many schools request a Cogford Report from parents during admissions or after enrollment. Parents may also book independently to understand their child's cognitive profile.
What is the purpose of the assessment?
The assessment helps understand how a child thinks, learns, reasons, and approaches problem solving. The results provide objective insights that can support educational planning and school readiness.
Is this an IQ test?
The assessment measures cognitive abilities such as reasoning, learning readiness, and problem solving. While some scores reflect intellectual ability, the focus is on educational understanding and readiness rather than labeling.
Who conducts the assessment?
Assessments are administered one-on-one by trained professionals using standardized procedures.
What age groups are assessed?
Assessments are available for children from early childhood through secondary school years - 2.7 years and above.
What is the cost of the assessment?
Assessments are Rs. 8500/-
Language & Child Experience:
Does my child need to be fluent in English?
No. Assessments are designed to evaluate thinking and reasoning skills, and include tasks that reduce language dependence, especially for younger children or students still developing English proficiency.
Will my child be tested on school subjects?
No. The assessment focuses on cognitive and reasoning skills rather than academic curriculum or language accuracy.
What happens during the assessment?
Children engage in interactive activities such as puzzles, pattern recognition, reasoning tasks, and age-appropriate conversations in a one-on-one setting with the assessor.
Is the assessment stressful for children?
Most children find the activities engaging and interactive. Examiners work at the child’s pace and provide breaks when needed.
Can parents stay in the room during the assessment?
Typically, parents wait outside to help maintain focus and standardized testing conditions.
Preparation & Expectations:
Does my child need to prepare or study for the assessment?
No preparation, training, or prior studying is required. The goal is to understand a child’s natural thinking and learning approach.
Should I enroll my child in coaching or practice programs before the assessment?
No. Coaching or practice is not recommended, as the intention is to capture an authentic picture of the child’s current abilities.
Reports & Results:
What will the report include?
The report includes standardized scores, a summary of cognitive strengths and learning patterns, and practical educational recommendations.
How long does it take to receive the report?
Reports are typically shared within 2 business days after completion of the assessment.
Will my child be compared with other children?
Yes. Scores are interpreted using age-based norms to help understand how a child’s performance compares with peers of the same age.
Can the report be shared with schools?
Yes. Parents may choose to share the report with schools or other professionals.
Admissions & Educational Use:
How will schools use the assessment results?
Cogford administers standardized educational assessments and provides objective reports. The interpretation and use of results — including admissions decisions, classroom planning, or enrichment planning — are determined solely by the school or institution.
Does the assessment guarantee admission or placement?
No. Admissions and placement decisions are made entirely by the school. Assessment results are only one component schools may consider.
Is this a medical or psychological diagnosis?
No. The assessment is educational in nature and does not provide clinical or medical diagnoses.
